Taize Prayer Service

Thursday, November 13 at 7:30 pm
We invite all to experience Taizé prayer – a soothing, peaceful way of being present to our Lord. We also offer an opportunity to experience the Labyrinth Prayer Walk before (beginning at 4 p.m.) or after each Taizé service.
Taizé Prayer is a meditative candlelit service that includes music, prayer, and silence — to quiet the mind, open the heart, and feed the soul — a time of quiet and solitude in the presence of God. A few words sung over and over again reinforce the meditative quality of the prayer. Taizé songs express a basic reality of faith that can be grasped quickly by the heart and intellect, gradually penetrating the whole being.
Labyrinths were a feature of many medieval cathedrals - one of the best remaining examples is found in Chartres Cathedral in northern France. Unlike a maze, they have only one path - there are no dead ends. People walk the labyrinth slowly, as an aid to contemplative prayer and reflection, as a spiritual exercise, or as a form of pilgrimage. The Labyrinth’s path takes you on a symbolic journey that creates space to unwind and reflect - about our relationships with ourselves, one another, and God.
